Some background to this case study:

Senegalese people abroad sent 1530 billion XOF to their home country and it represents 27,2% of the total of the monetary mass of the country. This illustrates the connection between the diaspora to the country. People abroad send money to the country for supporting their family, investing in local business, paying fees. Most people prefer the microshops on the streets, and similar services offered by telecom operators are still very unpopular. Telco’s like to better understand the needs and desires of those families, in order to improve their service and thereby improve financial inclusion of the poor.

Oumar Ba will share about the research objective, his methodology and research techniques, his challenges along the way, and the key insights and ideas to improve the telco’s remittances services.
