ACCES A LA planing FAMILLIAL POUR TOUTES
Situation
Current regulations in Francophone West Africa, particularly in countries like Senegal, Ivory Coast, and Togo, restrict pharmacists from administering injectable contraceptives and other implants. This limitation poses a significant barrier for women seeking contraceptive services in the region, leading to unnecessary challenges and obstacles.
Assignment
As the project lead for DKT International, the primary goal was to implement a Human-Centered Design (HCD) approach to develop a viable contraceptive service delivery concept. This involved designing a model that would enable pharmacists to directly administer these contraceptives, thereby reducing barriers and improving accessibility for women in the region..
Approach
We approach the assignment with the following process: literature review, research, ideation and iteration and formulation
Results
Training sessions for pharmacies: Pharmacists were provided with comprehensive training on contraceptive counselling, administration procedures, and client interaction to ensure quality service delivery.
Client record management application: An application was developed to streamline client record management, ensuring efficient and confidential handling of client data across participating pharmacies.
Service provision box installation: A service provision box was installed in pharmacies to facilitate client privacy and comfort during contraceptive counselling and administration sessions, enhancing the overall client experience and service delivery quality.
