Live session #35 | How can you convince a NGO to adopt HCD in their programming?

Title: “How can you convince a NGO to adopt HCD in their programming?”

Summary:

In this session, Sarayu will talk about her work with the Aga Khan Foundation in leading the USAID funded project ‘Local Impact’ that draws on HCD tools and processes to co-create grassroot solutions for conflict resolution and social cohesion. She shares about how she introduced HCD within Aga Khan, and how she dealt with criticism, resistance and questions like “How is HCD actually different from participatory research?”. 

Sarayu’s bio: 

Sarayu is a program and co-creation manager at Aga Khan Foundation, where she works closely with teams across Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan to build their capacity in leading and facilitating human-centered design processes.

Sarayu specialises in using human-centred design and systems thinking to solve complex problems in local and international development. She is passionate about championing the end communities, bringing their lived experiences to the forefront to inform decision-makers, building a shared understanding of ambiguous problems, co-designing breakthrough innovations, and supporting those solutions towards funding and implementation.
